This course aims to acquaint students with major literary movements of English Literature, so as to set a background to literary studies.

This course introduces students to the genres of literature so as to acquaint them with the elements of poetry, novel and drama.
Poetry-I: Chaucer to 17 th C (Ms. Rubina Rahman)
This course covers English poetry from the 14 th to 17 th century, Chaucer to the Neo-classical age. Major poets of the periods are covered.
The English Prose (Mr. Nasir Jamal Khattak)
Based on close reading of selected texts, this course focuses on the prose writings of major writers from the Elizabethan times to 20 th Century.
Language & Linguistics(Dr. Aurangzeb)
This course aims to give the students an insight into the nature of the English Language, its grammatical phonological and lexical systems, etc.

This course deals with the development of English dramatic art with reference to major playwrights from Marlowe to Eliot.
The English Novel(Ms. Shazia Sadaf )
This course spans the development of the English Novel from its rise in the 18 th Century to the Modern times through a close study of prescribed novels.
Literary Criticism (Dr. Aurangzeb)
This course deals with theories of criticism from Greek times to the Modern, beginning with Aristotle and Longinus and closing with T.S/ Eliot.
English Language Teaching(Dr. Mujib Rahman )
This course deals with theories, models and the practice of ELT. Starting with the relationship of linguistics and ELT, it concludes with language testing.
