INTRODUCTION :-
The opening of the Central Theology Madras in the historic Is lamia College Peshawar immediately after the second visit of Squalid Muhammad Ali Jinn ah preceded the establishment of the Department of Islam. Besides the Theology Madras a full fledged department of Islam was established in 1956 with the renowned religious scholar Nazi Nor Ha Nadvi as its first founding chairman.
Currently located in the building of Shiekh Zayed Islamic Center, the department initially started functioning in the Oriental Block in the vicinity of Islamia College. Ph.D. and M.Phil research programmes started in 1972 and 1981-82 respectively. The department grew into the faculty comprising the department of Islamiyat, Arabic and Seerat studies.
