COURSES :-

(M.Sc (Hons) Part-I)

Statistical Methods (Dr. S. Waqar Ali Shah)

This Paper provides training in basic statistical techniques required in a wide range of social and scientific investigations. It consists of estimation of parameters and testing of hypothesis. The paper also investigates the non-parametric procedures currently in use.

Probability & Probability Distribution (Mr. Alamgir)

Basic probability and distribution theory are explored. The paper gives a solid grounding into the theory and practice of probability, besides the familiar probability distributions (discrete as well as continuous).

Sampling and Survey method (Mr. M. Shafiq)

This course gives rigorous training in the theory of sampling and various sampling schemes. Various techniques of probability and non-probability sampling are elaborated. The course also throws light on various aspects of national sample surveys, demographic surveys and national population and housing census surveys in Pakistan.

Linear Algebra and Numerical Analysis (Mr. Shafi Ullah Khan)

A thorough understanding of matrix algebra, its theory and related procedures is provided in this course It also gives intensive training in the techniques of interpolation, extrapolation, numerical summation and integration.

Data Processing & Computer Programming (Mr. Bahrawar Jan)

The course introduces basic data processing concepts and computer programming. Students are given extensive training in two computer programming languages, namely, BASIC and FORTRAN and C++, Students are also given working, knowledge of the statistical packages SPSS and Minitab.

(M.Sc Part-II)

Design and Analysis of Experiments (Dr. M. Fazli Qadir)

This course deals comprehensively with the design and analysis of experiments in various fields of investigation. Apart from basic experimental designs like CRD, RCBD and LSD, it also includes factorial experiments, confounding and fractional replication, split-plot design, Balance incomplete and Partially balanced incomplete block designs.

Statistical Inference (Dr. M. Iqbal)

The course deals with theoretical aspects of statistical inference. It sheds light on the underlying theory in the estimation of parameters and testing of hypothesis.

Regression Analysis & Econometrics (Dr. Salahuddin)

The techniques of simple and multiple regressions are explored in detail. Field of econometrics is thoroughly covered and elaborate discussion of various econometric techniques, accompanied by detailed study of phenomena like multicollinearity, hetroscedasticity and autocorrelation is provided.

Multivariate Analysis (Mr. Alamgir)

Multivariate analysis is now an essential component of social as wells as scientific research. This course not only gives an understanding of the theory in multivariate methods it also gives rigorous training in various multivariate techniques like Principal Component Analysis, Factor Analysis, Discriminant Analysis and Cluster Analysis.

Operations Research

The course uncovers methods and techniques of Operations Research. It provides a rigorous training in linear programming, game theory and inventory models.

Stochastic Processes

This course provides theoretical ground, backed by applications in the real world, in the various stochastic processes such as Markov Processes (discrete as well as continuous state space), Renewal Process, and Branching Process.

Population Studies (Dr. Mrs. Shuhrat Shah)

The course provides formal training in the theory and measurement of various population processes (fertility, mortality, migration) in human population. It covers the topics such as demographic data collection (Census, registration of vital events and sample surveys), measurement of population change, population estimates and projections.
