COURSES :-

(M.A Part-I)
HISTORY OF URDU LITERATURE:

This course covers the general history of Urdu Literature, various schools of thought and important institutions and literary movements with special reference to development of Urdu Literature in N.W.F.P & Pakistan.

FICTION:

This course deals with different genres of fiction like Dastan, Novel, Short story and drama with special study of some specimens.

URDU PROSE (OLD)

This course relates to the study of classical Urdu prose from the first Urdu prose book sub Ras of Mullah Wajhi to the early twentieth century prose writer (an humorist) Farhatullah Beg, Rashid Ahmed Saddiqi & Qudratullah Shahab.

URDU PROSE (MODERN)

This course covers modern genres of Urdu prose like travelogue, Inshaia Reportage & Column and literary profile writing from Patrs Bokhari to Farigh Bokhari & Mushfiq Khawaja .

GHAZAL This course encompases study of Urdu Gaza from Wallis to Ahmad Far az. It includes study of Mir, Ghalib, Atish, Momen, Dagh, Hasrat and Fani Nasir Kazmi as well.

English (Part-I): Academic Literature

An Introduction to English grammar.

(M.A Part-II)

URDU NAZAM:

This course includes Nazam writing of poets from Nazir Akbar Abadi, Akbar llabadi,Hali, Akhtar Shirani, Josh, Faiz, N.M. Rashid, Mustafa Zaidi to Mirza Mehmood Sarhadi.

MATHNAVI, QASIDA AND MARSIA:

This course covers three important generes of Urdu poetry i.e. Mathanvi, Marsia, and Qasida plus a part of it cover the art of scanning called Urooz .

IQBALIAT:

This course exclusively deals with Urdu poetry of Allama Iqbal. Iqbals’s Literry works are taught with special reference to his philosophy and teachings.

LITERARY CRITICISM:

This course is bifurcated in to two parts i..e Western and Eatern schools of literary criticism including the writing of Aristotle to Longinus, Arnold, Coldrigde and T.S. Eliot, Hali, Shibli, Azad, Abid Ali, Hasan Askari and Syed Abdullah.

(M.A Part-II)

Paper X:

This course is bifercated into five parts. Each option carries 50 marks. Students will opt for any two options of the following:

  • Essay Writing.
  • Linguistics.
  • Mass: Communications.
  • Persian Language & Literature.
  • Urdu Computer Soft Ware.
