INTRODUCTION
The Department of Education was established in 1950, which was elevated to the Institute of Education and Research (IER) and a Faculty of Education in 1980.
The IER provides B.Ed. and M.Ed. training to, prospective and in-service teachers of secondary and higher secondary schools. At B.Ed. level both theoretical and practical training are imparted, whereas the M.Ed trainees are theoretically strengthened regarding pertinent teaching issues. The training duration for both B.Ed and M.Ed is one academic year . |

The Faculty of Education has currently eight departments and fifteen faculty members. Housed in a separate building, it has all the necessary facilities of a teacher training institution. It has a spacious and well-stocked library, science and computer laboratories, seminar rooms, and lecture halls. Moreover all necessary efforts are made to ensure that the trainees’ have comfortable and productive environment.

COURSES :-
1. B.Ed ( Bachelor of Education)
The Theory is divided into three parts:
1 Core Courses:
- Perspectives of Education and Contemporary Social Issues
- School Organization & Classroom Management
- Education Psychology, Guidance and Counseling
- Evaluation Techniques
- Curriculum and Instruction
- Islamiyat and Islamic Ethics/Islamic History (for non Muslims only)
- Functional English
2 Elective courses: (Any one of the following if offered)
- Curriculum Planning and Evaluation
- Foundation of Education (offered)
- Educational Planning and Management
- Comparative Education (Developed, Developing and Rapidly Developing Countries)
- Democracy in Education (Teaching, Learning and Environment)
- Creativity and Learning
- Modern Approaches to Teaching (offered)
- Women’s Education
- Special Education
- Computer Education-I (offered)
- Multi Grade Teaching/Co-operative learning.
- Elementary/Secondary School Supervision
- Educational Law
- The training programme consists of two components, i.e. Theory & Teaching Practice.
3. Method of Teaching (A candidate will have to study and develop teaching skills in two subjects)
1. Humanities Group: (Teaching of English is compulsory for the Humanities group, and students will also choose one from the following subjects)
- Teaching of Pakistan Studies.
- Teaching of languages (Arabic or Pashto or Urdu)
- Teaching of Mathematics.

2. Science Group: (Science group students will choose two from the following subjects)
- Teaching of Physical Sciences.
- Teaching of Biological Sciences.
- Teaching of Mathematics.
